DW Builders Constructs Kamloops’ New Mini Ice Rink at McArthur Island Sport and Event Centre
We are proud to announce that DW Builders is playing a vital role in the construction of a new mini ice rink at the McArthur Island Sport and Event Centre in Kamloops, BC. This project, commissioned by the City of Kamloops, transforms the former McArthur Island Curling Club space into a versatile ice surface that meets the growing demand for ice sports in our community.
As we progress with the installation of dasher boards, protective netting, and bleachers around the oval playing surface, I am excited about the upgrades we’re making to the facility’s refrigeration system and the addition of rubber mats in the non-playing areas. These enhancements ensure a safe and modern environment for both athletes and spectators alike.
The mini skating rink represents an opportunity not just for expansion, but for addressing the needs of younger players. It will primarily serve U-7 and U-9 hockey teams, providing them with a proper surface for practices and games. This shift enables us to allocate more time on the full-sized rinks to older players and leagues.
This project is funded through Build Kamloops dollars allocated for the future arena multiplex in Dufferin and is projected to generate around $100,000 in additional seasonal revenue for the City.
At DW Builders, we are truly honoured to contribute to a project that supports grassroots hockey and enriches community recreation in Kamloops. We look forward to seeing the positive impact it will have on our community.
